Jeanne Ramsdale was a famous American breeder of chinchilla Persians (also called silver Persians) under the prefix - or cattery name - Dearheart. Her cats were magnificent and to this day stand out for their exceptional beauty. She was married to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Philip N. Ramsdale. Jeanne Ramsdale and her husband lived in Long Beach, California.

Jeanne's book Persian Cats and other Longhairs from 1976 is highly recommended. It is in our  humble opinion the absolute best book for reference on Persian cat standards and coloring. Unrivaled in its wealth of information,  anything you want to know about Persian cats is in this book. Just to see the photos of Jeanne Ramsdale's Persians that she had bred, makes this book a must have for any Persian owner.
Jeanne Ramsdale's fondness for the Persian cat is obvious throughout this book, is well written, and very informative. She writes in depth about all aspects of cat care and breeding in this book and has been a great help in our journey to understanding and caring of this magnificent breed.
